Workgroup on the analysis of biomedical data

Head of the department

Ing. Eduard Bakštein, Ph.D.

Our workgroup aims at development of advanced methods for processing and analysis of biomedical signals as well as high-dimensional datasets, machine learning, biostatistics, as well as development of devices for telemedical patient monitoring.

Research topics and projects:

  • Research of methods for relapse prediction in bipolar affective disorder and schizophrenia, based on objective measurements, as well as subjective self-assessment questionnaires.
  • Development of methods for actigraphy analysis, especially: sleep-wake identification, sleep detection and sleep phase detection
  • Development of devices for telemedical patient monitoring in their home environment
  • Analysis of large-scale sleep datasets to identify population variability and patterns in motion activity and sleep.
  • Methods for advanced processing of other biomedical signals: microelectrode EEG, frequency and concentration spectra and periodograms and other.

Apart from our own projects we supply methodological and data-analysis support to other projects in our research programme.
