Profile
Occupational therapy has long history and tradition in psychiatric treatment. We continue this tradition in our workplace and extend it with new approaches.
Occupational therapy is provided to inpatients and patients from day care center in the form of group therapies, which are part of the treatment program at the clinic of National Institute of Mental Health. It is based on activities in which we focus on the use of leisure and hobby activities. These activities lead to strengthening self-confidence in one's own abilities, to better leisure planning, to interaction with other participants and to sharing of experience. The activity also develops social skills, gross and fine motor skills, and cognitive functions. For practicing self-sufficiency we use, for example, a training kitchenette.
In addition to group occupational therapy, we offer occupational therapy in the form of individual meetings. As part of individual therapy we can practice activity of daily living (e.g. cooking, shopping, organizing a home, etc.), train cognitive functions (e.g. memory, attention, planning), social and work skills. We can devote ourselves to the daily routine, creating healthy habits and finding meaningful leisure activities. As part of our consulting services, we offer the opportunity to deal with our own ways of overcoming the problems associated with the health condition, prioritizing life. Also we can discuss about compensatory aids and ways, adjusting the home environment if it is necessary.
