Department of Cognitive Disorders was established as a new unit of the National Institute of Mental Health in Klecany in 2015. It is also called AD Center - Center for Alzheimer's dementia. It is a specialized department with comprehensive care for memory and other cognitive functions in the elderly.

Memory clinic is focused on diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. It also participates in new medicament clinical trials.

The department's research focuses on cognitive training, the relationship between sleep, structural changes in the brain and memory loss in the elderly, the education of dementia in institutions in the Danube region, and the relationship between the clinical picture of Alzheimer's disease and the pathology of the brain.
