General Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic

Profile

The General Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic provides comprehensive multidisciplinary diagnostic and therapeutic care for a broad range of mental health conditions. We care for patients with complex or difficult-to-treat mental disorders, particularly treatment-resistant psychotic, affective and anxiety disorders. Due to the specific focus of NUDZ, the outpatient care provided may be time-limited.

As part of the diagnostic assessment, we cooperate with clinical psychologists. A 3T magnetic resonance imaging scanner and EEG facilities are also available directly within the NUDZ building. Where clinically indicated and agreed with the patient, we may also consider diagnostic admission to the inpatient ward of our clinic, where the patient’s functioning and overall symptoms can be assessed more comprehensively.

Our therapeutic care places emphasis on an individualised approach and appropriate education regarding the selected treatment methods. Treatment may include pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy or so-called biological treatment methods provided in cooperation with the Neurostimulation Outpatient Clinic. Depending on the patient’s needs and clinical indication, cooperation with the inpatient and day-care sections of the NUDZ Psychiatric Clinic may also be arranged. During the recovery process, patients may also address any related difficulties with our social workers.

Patients are accepted for consultation only upon referral from their treating psychiatrist.

A request for hospital admission must be issued by your outpatient psychiatrist. It must include complete information about your current health condition and a full medical history, including family, personal, substance use, social and psychiatric history, previous treatment and its effectiveness, hospitalisations, and psychological assessments. The request may be sent either by you or by your physician to ambulance@nudz.cz.

Please send prescription requests preferably by email to ambulance@nudz.cz.

A prescription can only be issued if you have attended a follow-up appointment within the past six months. Prescription requests may also be made by telephone, but only on working days: Monday to Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., or Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

For operational reasons, a minimum processing time of 24 hours applies from the receipt of your request to the decision on issuing an ePrescription and, where applicable, sending it to you.

(Lunch break: 12:00 noon–1:00 p.m.)

In the event of acute difficulties, please contact your treating physician or visit one of the crisis centres in person. In Prague, these include the Crisis Intervention Centre at Bohnice Psychiatric Hospital and the RIAPS Crisis Centre.
