The National Institute of Mental Health is a center for preclinical, clinical and socioeconomic research focused on neurobiological and psychosocial factors affecting mental health, including the prevention, onset and course of mental illnesses, their diagnosis, treatment and societal impact. A strong emphasis is on implementation research, directly improving the quality of life of people with mental illness as well as the general population.
