The Suicide Prevention and Research Working Group focuses on comprehensive research into suicidality and the coordination and implementation of prevention and postvention activities.
We analyze trends in suicide rates with regard to economic, social, and environmental factors, organize prevention and postvention (support for those left behind after a suicide) activities, develop methodological recommendations (e.g., for schools), communicate with the media, educate the public, collaborate on the creation of public policy in suicide prevention (we participated in the preparation of the government's National Action Plan for Suicide Prevention 2020–2030), and bring experience from abroad to the Czech Republic.
Through our activities, we want to contribute to the early detection and reduction of risk in people at increased risk of suicide and to support those affected by the suicide of a loved one (survivors, classmates, colleagues, etc.).
In 2022, as part of the international JA ImpleMENTAL project, we launched the website www.sebevrazdy.cz with the motto "P.S. Live," which contains information on suicide and self-harm for the general public and professionals, as well as links to crisis support, including an online chat/counseling service for people in crisis. The website is linked to Facebook and Instagram, where we are actively involved. You can follow our Facebook and Instagram accounts via the following QR code:
