Petr Weiss is professor of clinical psychology at Department of Psychology of Faculty of Arts and at Institute of Sexology of the 1st Medical Faculty, Charles University, Prague. He has published more than 500 papers in Czech and in international journals and he is a member of the editorial board of  several sexological and psychological journals. He is a scientific secretary of the Czech Sexological Society. Was President of the 10th Congress of the International Academy of Sex Research (2010) and Co-chair of the EFS meeting in 2006. He is currently a member of the ISSM Scientific Committee.

Born 1954 in  Levoca, Slovakia, married, two sons. Clinical psychologist, training psychotherapist, forensic expert in sexology and clinical psychology, professor of clinical psychology. Scientific secretary of the Czech Sexological Society, member of several Czech and international professional societies (inc.IASR, ESSM, IATSO, IPPF, WAS, ESC).

Research activities:

 

Author or co-author of the National Research Program of Sexual Behavior in the Czech Republic (representative surveys in 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013), representative survey of the sexual behavior of youth in Prague from the viewpoint of HIV/AIDS risk (1993), representative survey of the sexual behavior of Czech adolescents (1995), representative survey of erectile dysfunctions in Czech men 35-65 years (2001), sexual education and sexual behavior of Czech and Romanian women (2007), longitudinal researches of sexual offenders (partner relations, personality characteristics, effects of therapy, relaps rates etc.), personality characteristics and partner relations  of men with  erectile dysfunctions, personality characteristics and partner relations of transsexual clients.

 

Publications:

 

Several presentations  at international congresses (Amsterdam, Vancouver, Toronto, Berlin, Caracas, Utrecht, Cape Town, Istanbul etc.). 460 publications in Czech and international professional journals, 15 monographs (all sexological), including first Czech textbook on paraphilias, first Czech textbook on transsexuality, first monograph on sexual behavior of the general population, first mongraphs on sexual abuse of children, comprehensive textbook of sexology.
