Annotation

EU-PROMENS is a mental health skills development programme funded by the EU4Health initiative and implemented by a project consortium consisting of GFA Consulting Group GmbH, Trimbos Institute, and Mental Health Europe. The project runs from January 2024 to December 2026. Its main goal is to strengthen and expand the professional skills of mental health workers across Europe. The project supports Key Initiative No. 15: “An initiative for better-trained professionals in the EU and increasing their numbers”, which is part of the European Commission's communication on a comprehensive approach to mental health.
The programme targets various professional groups, including:
Mental health professionals in healthcare
Teachers and educators in the education sector
Social workers in community centres
Professionals working in prisons and juvenile detention centres

Part 1: Development and Implementation of a Multidisciplinary Mental Health Training Programme
Focusing on healthcare and other professionals in community centres:
Establishment of a stakeholder contact group to ensure broad engagement across mental health sectors
Needs assessment of target groups and definition of training priorities
Mapping of existing training initiatives and involved institutions
Development of a European multidisciplinary mental health training programme
Implementation of a hybrid training programme in 6 pilot countries, with expansion to 24 additional countries
Creation of a European plan for the systematic development of mental health skills

Part 2: Organisation of an Exchange Programme for Mental Health Professionals
Identification of participants' needs and host institutions' capacities, including their mutual alignment
Design and implementation of the exchange programme in line with the training programme's objectives

Country Involvement:
Organisation of hybrid training seminars in 27 EU Member States, Norway, Iceland, and Ukraine, with at least 3,600 participants, in cooperation with national institutions
Organisation of international exchange visits involving at least 900 participants, including the selection of national host organisations and participants from all countries
