Sleep, chronobiology and behavior in animal models

Main goals

Our laboratory focuses on preclinical research using animal models of mental disorders such as schizophrenia, autism and Alzheimer’s disease, with the aim of clarifying the mechanisms underlying their onset and progression, as well as developing new treatments.

We specialize primarily in social behavior and ultrasonic communication in rats and mice, and in the search for new approaches to their analysis, which offers us insight into the inner lives of animals. We also study other domains of behavior, such as emotionality and cognition, as well as pathological changes in brain tissue.

An important part of our work is also the search for links between the brain, behavior and the circadian rhythm of sleep and wakefulness, particularly in relation to neurodegenerative disorders.
