Sexual violence (SV) represents a serious social and economic issue, and resources allocated to combating it are increasing globally each year. Currently, we possess substantial knowledge about the environmental and psychological factors influencing SV, but only limited understanding of the role of genetics. The aim of this project is to use the GWAS (genome-wide association study) methodology to clarify the role of individual genetic makeup in SV and to lay the foundation for a multidisciplinary platform for SV research.
