Profile

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a structured psychotherapeutic approach focused on developing practical skills for managing emotions, crisis situations and interpersonal relationships. It is based on the principle of finding a balance between acceptance and change, and supports clients in understanding their own patterns of behaviour as well as in modifying them in a targeted way.

The programme offered is outpatient-based, lasts six months and is covered by public health insurance. It includes individual psychotherapy, group skills training and telephone coaching in challenging situations. The programme is complemented by introductory and concluding sessions, which support clients in orienting themselves within the therapy and in completing the therapeutic process.

The programme is intended for people experiencing emotional instability, impulsivity, intense emotions, difficulties in relationships, chronic feelings of emptiness or fear of abandonment. It is also suitable for individuals with self-harming behaviour or suicidal thoughts. DBT was originally developed primarily for clients with borderline personality disorder, but it is also used for other difficulties associated with emotional dysregulation.

During the programme, clients acquire skills focused on emotion regulation, coping with distress, improving interpersonal communication, strengthening self-confidence and developing the ability to view situations from different perspectives. Emphasis is placed on practical training and on transferring the acquired skills into everyday life.
