Annotation

To the best of our knowledge, this study includes the first assessment of post-COVID-19 changes in cognitive functioning and brain morphology in individuals with schizophrenia. The primary aims of the study are: (1.) to determine if a previous COVID-19 diagnosis relates to a substantial deterioration of cognitive functioning, (2.) to evaluate the relationship between a previous COVID-19 diagnosis and morphological changes. The targeted hypothesis-testing is combined with the exploration of: (3.) a wider range of variables that could influence post-COVID-19 cognition (including disease severity, time since diagnosis, or the level of cognitive functioning at baseline), (4.) possible domain-specific changes in cognition, and (5.) the relationships between cognitive and morphological changes.
